Raritan Township Celebrates Grand Opening of New Playground at Mine Brook Park

Raritan Township Mayor Brad Perry and the Township Committee proudly welcomed residents and community partners to celebrate the official ribbon cutting and opening of the brand-new playground at Mine Brook Park on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Mayor Perry noted that the project represented another campaign promise fulfilled by utilizing the spaces the Township preserved and creating family-friendly ways for the community to enjoy them.

“We worked hard to preserve open space throughout Raritan Township, and now we are maximizing those efforts by creating engaging ways for families and neighbors to enjoy these beautiful spaces together. This is what keeps our community vibrant,” Mayor Perry continued, “I’m incredibly excited about the additional recreational initiatives we have on the horizon.”

The project was made possible through funding support from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) program and the . Together, these investments transformed Mine Brook Park into a fresh, inclusive recreational destination for local families and visitors alike. “We are grateful to the County for providing funding for various Township park improvements, and our Department of Public Works for bringing this project to fruition,” shared Karen Gilbert, Township Administrator.

Hunterdon County Commissioner Jeff Kuhl shared, “The County is pleased to see these tangible results and looks forward to doing great things like this for every town in Hunterdon County.”

The new playground replaces outdated structures with modern, safety-focused play equipment designed for children ages 2–12. Features include age-specific climbing areas and inclusive swing options such as toddler-friendly seating, belt swings, and a special “freedom swing” so children of all abilities can enjoy the fun together.
